Lebovitz said the REIT has been working to increase the share of non-apparel tenants in its portfolio. During the first quarter, 70 percent of leasing occurred with non-apparel tenants in favor of food and beverage, entertainment, fitness, and other service providers.

McRoberts said the acute and post-acute health care segments in which the REIT operates continue to present opportunities. “Fundamentals are pretty good.”

Randy Churchey, chairman and CEO of EdR (NYSE: EDR), participated in a video interview at Nareit’s REITweek: 2018 Investor Conference in New York.

Churchey discussed steps EdR is taking to narrow the gap between public and private valuations.

“Most REITs are trading at a discount to net asset value (NAV), which is very frustrating for all of us,” Churchey said. He noted that EdR is trying to communicate to the public where private transaction cap rates stand versus the implied cap rate of EdR’s stock.

Mary Hogan Preusse, founder and principal of consulting, investment and advisory services firm Sturgis Partners LLC, participated in a video interview at Nareit’s REITweek: 2018 Investor Conference in New York.

Hogan Preusse sits on the boards of four public REITs. She noted that some of the most common issues facing boards today surround succession and making the boardroom look “more like America.” Other key issues include executive compensation.

Drew Genova, executive managing director at commercial real estate services and investment firm CBRE, participated in a video interview at Nareit’s REITweek: 2018 Investor Conference in New York.

Genova is responsible for the overall management and coordination of client relationships for CBRE’s key strategic account clients throughout the United States.

Bill Blackham, president and CEO of Condor Hospitality Trust, Inc. (NYSE: CDOR), participated in a video interview at Nareit’s REITweek: 2018 Investor Conference in New York.

Willing Biddle, president and CEO of Urstadt Biddle Properties Inc. (NYSE: UBA), participated in a video interview at Nareit’s REITweek: 2018 Investor Conference in New York.

Biddle highlighted the company’s strategy to focus on grocery-anchored shopping centers around New York City. Urstadt Biddle’s portfolio also includes smaller retail infill properties and shopping centers located next to regional malls.
