NAREIT announced the 10 winners of its annual Leader in the Light Awards, which honor NAREIT member companies that have demonstrated superior, portfolio-wide sustainability practices.
The awards were presented on Nov. 18 in Las Vegas at REITWorld 2015: NAREIT’s Annual Convention for All Things REIT to U.S. Equity REITs in seven property sectors: retail, residential, office, industrial, lodging/resorts, health care and diversified. Two winners were selected in the lodging/resorts and office sectors. A global award was also presented for non-U.S. companies.

COPT primarily focuses on U.S. government tenants in the defense and information technology sectors. Waesche commented that pricing remains very strong for office product in the firm’s core markets as a result of solid fundamentals and strength in the capital markets.

Seritage is the real estate spinoff of Sears Holding Corp. It began trading as a public company in July.
NAREIT has announced the election of its 2016 officers, as well as the members of its Executive Board, Board of Governors, and Audit and Investment Committee.
NAREIT’s new Chair is Edward Fritsch, president and CEO of Highwoods Properties, Inc. (NYSE: HIW). Fritsch takes over from NAREIT’s 2015 Chair, David Neithercut, president and CEO of Equity Residential (NYSE: EQR).
