Michael Chang, director of energy and sustainability at Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc. (NYSE: HST), joined Nareit for a video interview at Nareit’s 2018 ESG Forum in Seattle.

Chang described Host’s decision to include Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) metrics in its most recent 10-K filing as one of its biggest achievements of the past year.

Jill Ziegler, director of sustainability and corporate responsibility at Forest City Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE: FCE.A), joined Nareit for a video interview at Nareit’s 2018 ESG Forum in Seattle.

Forest City owns and develops a portfolio of retail, office, apartment and mixed-use properties across the United States.

Ziegler commented on some of the additional challenges of mixed-use development from a sustainability perspective.

Mark Delisi, vice president of corporate responsibility at AvalonBay Communities, Inc. (NYSE: AVB), joined Nareit for a video interview at Nareit’s 2018 ESG Forum in Seattle. The video is part of Nareit’s JumpStart Program.

Delisi commented on the importance of environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting.

John Pawlowski, an analyst with Green Street Advisors, joined Nareit for a video interview at REITworld 2017.

Pawlowski discussed the recent performance of single-family residential REITs. He noted that the segment has had a “great run,” in large part due to the focus on operations.

“I expect investor focus to remain on the operations story,” Pawlowski said. He noted that opportunities to cut costs persist: “There’s still fruit to pick there.”
