Dynex Capital CEO Expects Interest Rates to Remain Low

Byron Boston, president, CEO and co-chief investment officer of Dynex Capital, Inc. (NYSE: DX), joined REIT.com for a CEO Spotlight video interview during REITWeek 2014: NAREIT’s Investor Forum, held in New York.

Boston was asked to explain the investment philosophy behind the mortgage REIT.

“Our overall philosophy is one of executing a simple strategy with a keen eye on managing our overall risk exposure,” he explained.

Crown Castle CEO says REIT Model Provides “Right Long-Term Structure”

Ben Moreland, president and CEO of Crown Castle International Corp. (NYSE: CCI), joined REIT.com for a CEO Spotlight video interview during REITWeek 2014: NAREIT’s Investor Forum, held in New York.

Crown Castle went public in 1998, but didn’t begin operating as a stock exchange-listed REIT until the beginning of 2014. Moreland was asked to comment on the decision to elect REIT status.

“We thought the REIT corporate organization was the right long-term structure for us,” Moreland said, noting that Crown Castle has thought of itself as a real estate company since inception.

Forest City Enterprises CEO Positive on Office, Multifamily, Retail Fundamentals

David LaRue, president and CEO of Forest City Enterprises, Inc. (NYSE: FCE.A), joined REIT.com for a CEO Spotlight video interview during REITWeek 2014: NAREIT’s Investor Forum, held in New York.

Forest City owns, operates and develops properties in the office,  multifamily,  and retail sectors. LaRue analyzed some of the major trends in each of the company’s sectors.

“We’re very positive on the office piece of our portfolio,” LaRue said.

New York REIT President Reflects on Strong Market Response to Public Listing

Michael Happel, president of New York REIT, Inc. (NYSE: NYRT), joined REIT.com for a video interview during REITWeek 2014: NAREIT’s Investor Forum, held in New York.

New York REIT started as a public, non-listed REIT (PNLR) before listing on the NYSE in April. Happel was asked about market reaction to the listing.

“The market response has been fantastic,” he said. He explained that the listing had two main purposes – to provide liquidity to existing shareholders as well as to provide the company with long-term access to public market debt and equity.
