Feagles commented on reforms to the Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act of 1980 (FIRPTA) that were included in the Protecting Americans From Tax Hikes (PATH) Act of 2015 and their impact on REITs.

Care Capital CEO Says Spin Off from Ventas Went Smoothly

Ray Lewis, CEO of Care Capital Properties, Inc. (NYSE: CCP), joined REIT.com for a CEO Spotlight video interview at REITWorld 2015: NAREIT’s Annual Convention for All Things REIT at the Wynn Las Vegas.

Care Capital was spun off from Ventas, Inc. (NYSE: VTR) in mid-2015 as a pure-play REIT focused on the skilled nursing facility market. Lewis said the transition went well.

“We were very well prepared, and the spin couldn’t have gone smoother,” Lewis observed.

STORE is an acronym for single-tenant operational real estate, which is the company’s target market. STORE’s tenants operate across a variety of industries within the service, retail and industrial sectors. Restaurants, health clubs, early childhood education centers, movie theaters and furniture stores represent the top industries in its portfolio.

REITs Rewarded for Capital Structure Preparations

Andrey Pavlov, professor of finance at Simon Fraser University, joined REIT.com for a video interview during REITWeek 2015: NAREIT’s Investor Forum, held in New York.

Pavlov presented a paper at the 2015 NAREIT/AREAUEA Real Estate Research Conference on REIT capital structures. Pavlov said his research underscored that investors rewarded those REITs that had prepared their capital structures for tough times in advance of the financial crisis.
