Tim Naughton, the 2017 NAREIT Chair and the chairman and CEO of AvalonBay Communities, Inc. (NYSE: AVB), stressed that committee assignments in Congress and the prospect of tax reform on the policy agenda means “we need to make sure our industry’s voice is heard.”

The single-family home rental sector should experience solid growth for at least the next decade, buoyed in part by demand from millennials, a shortage of housing and greater acceptance as a viable investment, according to the CEOs of single-family housing REITs.

Rexford has increased the square footage of its Southern California-based portfolio by 21 percent since the beginning of 2015. Schwimmer discussed what has been driving the activity.
REIT CEOs Encouraged by Market Fundamentals
Speaking at a lunch panel on the first day of REITWeek 2015: NAREIT’s Investor Forum, executives from a diverse group of REITs expressed optimism regarding fundamentals in their particular market segments.
During the June 9 session moderated by David Neithercut, president and CEO of Equity Residential (NYSE: EQR) and NAREIT’s 2015 chair, the executives also pointed to favorable conditions in the capital markets.
