Investors Looking for Real Estate Deals in U.K. After Brexit

In the latest episode of The REIT Report: NAREIT’s Weekly Podcast, Jahn Brodwin, senior managing director with FTI Consulting, offered his analysis of the Brexit’s effect on property markets in the United Kingdom.

Brodwin said measuring the impact of the Brexit on property values in the U.K. has proven to be difficult as transactions have halted since the vote. Additionally, a number of real estate investment funds have suspended trading, adding to the difficulty.

Lexington Realty CEO Says REIT Expects More Sale-Leaseback Deals

David Slotkin, partner at Morrison & Foerster, joined REIT.com for a video interview during REITWise 2015: NAREIT’s Law, Accounting and Finance Conference held in Phoenix.

Slotkin discussed recent changes in shareholder activism within the REIT industry.

“What you are seeing now is that the broader shareholder activism in other industries and larger companies is seeping into the REIT space,” Slotkin said. He pointed to various sources of activism, including hedge funds and traditional dedicated investors.

Gordon DuGan, CEO of Gramercy Property Trust (NYSE: GPT), joined REIT.com for a CEO Spotlight video interview at REITWorld 2014: NAREIT’s Annual Convention for All Things REIT at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis.

Gramercy has made acquisitions in both the office and industrial sectors in 2014. DuGan said both sectors are healthy thanks in part to a dearth of new construction. The company is finding “terrific” assets on the market in the range of $ 5 million to $ 30 million.
