Vornado Executive Says Link Between Buildings and Tenant Health Attracting Attention

Sukanya Paciorek, senior vice president of corporate sustainability at Vornado Realty Trust (NYSE: VNO), joined REIT.com for a video interview at NAREIT’s 2015 Leader in the Light Working Forum in Reston, Va.

Vornado, which was a 2014 Leader in the Light award winner, focuses on the New York and Washington, D.C., office markets, as well as New York street retail.

Paciorek discussed Vornado’s approach to sustainability and offered suggestions for companies wishing to improve their sustainability profile.

Delta Associates Executive Says Economic Expansion Stimulating Real Estate Deals

Sandy Paul, executive vice president with Delta Associates, discussed real estate transaction volume in the latest edition of the NAREIT Podcast.

Transactions are up across all major property types in the United States in the last five years, according to Paul. Deals involving office assets are up nearly 500 percent in 2014 from 2009, while apartment transaction volume has grown more than 400 percent in that same timeframe.

“The market has come back pretty strongly,” Paul said. “What we’ve seen over the past year is that there has been some plateauing of volume.”

NYSE Executive Says REIT IPO Pipeline Relatively Dry

Ron Bohlert, managing director of the global corporate client group of the NYSE, joined REIT.com for a video interview during REITWise 2014: NAREIT’s Law, Accounting and Finance Conference held in Boca Raton, Fla.

Bohlert was asked to discuss some of the initial trends in the market for REIT initial public offerings (IPOs) in 2014. Bohlert described the 2013 IPO market as “incredibly active.” Overall, 230 companies listed on the NYSE last year, generating approximately $ 55 billion in new capital. Seventeen REITs listed and raised a combined total of $ 4.5 billion.
