Phillip Owens, vice president with Green Street Advisors’ Advisory and Consulting Team, joined REIT.com for a video interview during REITWeek 2014: NAREIT’s Investor Forum, held in New York.
Owens discussed the trend of non-traditional real estate companies seeking to unlock the value of their real estate.
Shopping center REIT Regency Centers Corp. (NYSE: REG) has completed the sale of $ 250 million of 10-year “green bonds,” the first time a U.S. REIT has issued bonds that exclusively target investment in environmental sustainability projects.
Lisa Palmer, Regency Centers’ CFO, said market reaction to the bonds was “extremely positive.”
Seven REITs have been named as 2014 Green Lease Leaders by a new program that recognizes property owners, tenants and brokers who are effectively using leases to save energy in commercial buildings.
Mike Kirby, chairman and director of research at Green Street Advisors, joined REIT.com for a video interview at the 2014 Real Estate Luminaries Series event on April 23 at Georgetown University.
Kirby discussed his views on the growing lines of business electing to operate as REITs.
You can minimize the impact of conferences through limited consumption of energy and resources. On October 14th, the CDC hosted its 2010 Sustainability forum on “How to Plan a Green and Healthy Conference”. A panel of experts weighed in on how to choose healthy foods for conferences and how to incorporate exercise/ wellness into meeting agendas.
