Capital Markets Receptive to REITs

In the latest episode of The REIT Report: NAREIT’s Weekly Podcast, Keven Lindemann of S&P Global Market Intelligence discussed REITs’ capital raising actives in 2016.

REITs raised 11 percent more capital through the end of 2016’s third quarter than they did in the year-earlier period.

“That’s certainly an indication that the companies in the [REIT] industry have healthy access to the capital markets,” Lindemann said.


TIER REIT Says Fundamentals “Very Strong” in Core Markets

Scott Fordham, president and CEO of TIER REIT (NYSE: TIER), joined for a CEO Spotlight video interview at REITWeek 2016: NAREIT’s Investor Forum at the Waldorf Astoria New York.

Dallas-based TIER REIT operates a portfolio of office properties in select markets that lead the nation in both population and office-using employment growth.

Fordham said fundamentals remain “very strong” in TIER REIT’s core markets of Austin, Texas; Dallas; Atlanta; Nashville, Tennessee; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Denver.

Sandy Presant, chair of the Real Estate Fund Practice at Greenberg Traurig LLP, joined for a video interview at REITWise 2016: NAREIT’s Law, Accounting and Finance Conference at the Marriott Marquis in Washington, D.C.

Presant said capital in the private real estate market is “very heated,” as foreign funds continue to be attracted to the safe haven of the United States.
