Mills said millennials continue to impact the office sector.
“There’s rigorous competition for millennial talent, and that shapes the location of the space and configuration,” Mills noted, when speaking on the leasing requirements of tenants.
Stuart Eisenberg, partner and industry practice leader for real estate and construction services at BDO USA, joined REIT.com for a video interview at REITWise 2016: NAREIT’s Law, Accounting and Finance Conference at the Marriott Marquis in Washington, D.C.
Eisenberg commented on the influence millennials are having on the real estate market.
Kerry Vandel, finance professor at the University of California-Irvine, joined REIT.com for a video interview during REITWise 2015: NAREIT’s Law, Accounting and Finance Conference held in Phoenix.
Vandel cited three demographic groups that will heavily influence the real estate industry in the near future: baby boomers, millennials and immigrants.
The United States has “a much larger immigrant pool than we’ve had in the past,” Vandel said.
Vandel noted that those three demographic groups can be broken down further by wealth.
Jay Shah, CEO of Hersha Hospitality Trust (NYSE:HT), joined REIT.com for a CEO Spotlight video interview at REITWorld 2014: NAREIT’s Annual Convention for All Things REIT at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis.
Hersha owns select-service hotels operated under brands that include Marriott, Hilton, Intercontinental and Hyatt, as well as a small but growing number of independent hotels. Shah addressed the different demand drivers at play in the lodging sector.
