Protesters in Cairo’s Tahrir Square react to Mubarak’s speech

A crowd of thousands rushed to speakers and projection television screens to listen to their president address the unrest that has swept over the nation in the past eight days. They weren’t happy with what they heard and told an Al Jazeera web producer they would remain in the square until Mubarak leaves. Protestors were scattered and some were trampled underfoot. Both Israel and Hamas, which controls Gaza, have been watching the situation closely, the border has been closed since Friday. More than a million protesters flooded into central Cairo, turning Tahrir Square in the Egyptian capital, into a sea of humanity as massive protests against President Hosni Mubarak swept across Middle East’s most populous nation.
