An S&P 500 and Fortune 500 company, Host and is one of the largest owners of luxury hotels.  Host currently owns 94 properties in the United States and 13 properties internationally.

Poll: REITs Expected to Beat S&P 500 Index in Next Year

Real estate industry professionals expect REITs to outperform the S&P 500 Index during the next 12 months, according to a poll from BMO Capital Markets.

The poll of  attendees at the BMO Capital Markets 10th Annual North American Real Estate Conference in Chicago shows that 45 percent of institutional investors expect REITs to outperform the S&P 500 Index by more than 3 percent in the next year, while 35 percent said REITs could outperform the benchmark by as much as 10 percent.

Survey Forecasts Favorable Real Estate Conditions for Next 3 Years

The commercial real estate market is set to enjoy mostly favorable conditions through 2017, according to the latest three-year consensus forecast from the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Center for Capital Markets and Real Estate.

While the latest semi-annual outlook is slightly less bullish compared with six months ago, the majority of indicators in the forecast signal favorable economic conditions and capital markets in the United States.

Blackstone’s Single-Family Rental Venture Could Go Public in Next Two Years

Jonathan Gray, global head of real estate at private-equity firm The Blackstone Group, said he expects the company’s single-family rental platform will be in a position to go public within the next one to two years.

Speaking April 23 at the Real Estate Luminaries Series at Georgetown University’s Steers Center for Global Real Estate, Gray said Blackstone is in the process of “building something that will look like an apartment REIT.”
