Incoming Extra Space CEO Says REIT’s Growth Slowing to Sustainable Level

Joe Margolis, chief investment officer, executive vice president and incoming CEO of Extra Space Storage Inc. (NYSE: EXR), joined REIT.com for a video interview at REITWorld 2016: NAREIT’s Annual Convention for All Things REIT at the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge.

Margolis joined Extra Space in 2015 and will succeed Spencer Kirk as CEO of the company at the beginning of 2017.

Margolis commented on the transition process, joking that he and Kirk have been “joined at the hip for about 18 months now.”

Ric Campo, chairman and CEO of Camden Property Trust (NYSE: CPT), joined REIT.com for a CEO Spotlight video interview at REITWorld 2016: NAREIT’s Annual Convention for All Things REIT at the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge.

Campo commented on Camden’s recent move to dispose of $ 1.2 billion in assets, which has allowed the company to renew and reposition its portfolio by investing in new development.

Michael Barnello, president and CEO of LaSalle Hotel Properties (NYSE: LHO), joined REIT.com for a CEO Spotlight video interview at REITWorld 2015: NAREIT’s Annual Convention for All Things REIT at the Wynn Las Vegas.

LaSalle focuses on upscale, full-service hotels, in 14 markets across 10 states and the District of Columbia. Barnello gave an overview of fundamentals in the upscale sector of the hotel market.

Executives Give no Hint of American Residential Slowing Acquisitions

The executive team of single-family housing REIT American Residential Properties (NYSE: ARPI), president and COO Laurie Hawkes and chairman and CEO Stephen Schmitz, joined REIT.com for a video interview during REITWeek 2014: NAREIT’s Investor Forum, held in New York.

American Residential acquired 700 homes in the first quarter of the year. Schmitz talked about the pace of transactions in the quarter and the likelihood it would hold up going forward.

“We think that’s a well-measured pace,” Schmitz said.
