Ed Fritsch, president and CEO of Highwoods Properties (NYSE: HIW) and 2016 NAREIT Chair, joined REIT.com for a CEO Spotlight video interview at REITWorld 2016: NAREIT’s Annual Convention for All Things REIT at the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge.
Fritsch said he expects REITs will be able to continue to deliver attractive returns in the current environment of global uncertainty.
Steve Buller, portfolio manager with Fidelity Investments, joined REIT.com for a video interview at REITWorld 2016: NAREIT’s Annual Convention for All Things REIT at the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge.
Buller received NAREIT’s 2016 Industry Achievement Award at the convention.
Buller offered his thoughts on how Donald Trump’s victory in the presidential election impacted the real estate market. For example, he noted that health care REITs are facing uncertainty over the potential direction of public policy.
In the latest edition of Quick Study, Brad Case, NAREIT’s senior vice president for research and industry information, a “fairly quiet” November for REITs and other asset classes.
The total returns of the FTSE/NAREIT All REIT Index fell 0.3 percent in November, while the S&P 500 Index gained 0.3 percent. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note was up 0.1 percent for the month. Case pointed out that mortgage REITs gained 1 percent for the month while producing strong dividend yields.
