U.S. REITs a Reference Point for International Best Practices, Green Street Consultant Says

David De La Rosa, senior vice president of advisory consulting at Green Street Advisors, joined REIT.com for a video interview at REITWorld 2016: NAREIT’s Annual Convention for All Things REIT at the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge.

De La Rosa discussed best practices for international real estate companies. He noted that best-in-class real estate companies in the United States share a number of characteristics: high-quality portfolios, specialized investment strategies, good capital allocation, strong balance sheets and limited development pipelines.

Fibras Adopting REIT Best Practices, Analyst Says

David de la Rosa, vice president with Green Street Advisors, joined REIT.com for a video interview during REITWeek 2015: NAREIT’s Investor Forum, held in New York.

De la Rosa offered some insights into the growing fibra market in Mexico. Fibras, the country’s version of REITs, were introduced in Mexico in 2004. The first fibra listed in Mexico in 2011. The country is now home to nine listed fibras with a total market capitalization of $ 18 billion.

Drew Sims, chairman and CEO of SoTHERLY Hotels Inc. (NASDAQ: SOHO), joined REIT.com for a CEO Spotlight video interview at REITWorld 2014: NAREIT’s Annual Convention for All Things REIT at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis.

SoTHERLY owns full-service hotels primarily located in the high-growth markets of the southern United States.

Sims said the last nine months have been the best in the nearly 60 year history of the company.
