Eisenberg commented on the influence millennials are having on the real estate market.
REITs Well-Positioned for Changing Interest Rate Environment
In the latest edition of Fundamentally Speaking, Calvin Schnure, NAREIT’s senior vice president for research and economic analysis, said REITs are in a favorable situation to thrive in the interest rate environment in 2016.
“Equity REITs cash flows are really well-positioned for the interest rate environment ahead,” Schnure said.

PNLR Liquidity Events Changing, Lawyer Says

Betts noted that liquidity events are becoming more common in the public non-listed REIT (PNLR) sector. He described two different kinds of liquidity events for PNLRs. Roughly 50 percent have consisted of mergers and acquisitions (M&A). The other half have come through initial public offerings (IPOs).

Kerry Vandel, finance professor at the University of California-Irvine, joined REIT.com for a video interview during REITWise 2015: NAREIT’s Law, Accounting and Finance Conference held in Phoenix.
Vandel cited three demographic groups that will heavily influence the real estate industry in the near future: baby boomers, millennials and immigrants.
The United States has “a much larger immigrant pool than we’ve had in the past,” Vandel said.
Vandel noted that those three demographic groups can be broken down further by wealth.
