Data Center REIT CyrusOne Eyeing International Expansion

Gary Wojtaszek, president and CEO of CyrusOne (NASDAQ: CONE), joined REIT.com for a CEO Spotlight video interview at REITWorld 2016: NAREIT’s Annual Convention for All Things REIT at the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge.

Wojtaszek commented on the “digital tsunami” of demand that CyrusOne anticipates in coming years. He noted that a 500 percent increase in the number of connected devices is expected  in the next five years alone.

William Stein, CEO of Digital Realty (NYSE: DLR), joined REIT.com for a CEO Spotlight video interview at REITWorld 2015: NAREIT’s Annual Convention for All Things REIT at the Wynn Las Vegas.

Digital Realty supports the data center and colocation strategies of more than 1,000 firms across its portfolio of data centers located throughout North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

Stein offered an update on the company’s efforts to achieve the highest possible risk-adjusted returns at the asset level.

Net Lease REITs Upbeat About Expansion Opportunities

Net lease REITs see continued opportunities to expand their operations going forward in both foreign and domestic markets, according to executives speaking at REITWeek 2015: NAREIT’s Investor Forum.

Christopher Volk, president and CEO of STORE Capital Corp. (NYSE: STOR), said he expects acquisition volumes to be higher in the net lease sector in 2016. STORE Capital invested $ 1.1 billion in 2014.

“The (net lease) space itself is embryonic,” he said.

Delta Associates Executive Says Economic Expansion Stimulating Real Estate Deals

Sandy Paul, executive vice president with Delta Associates, discussed real estate transaction volume in the latest edition of the NAREIT Podcast.

Transactions are up across all major property types in the United States in the last five years, according to Paul. Deals involving office assets are up nearly 500 percent in 2014 from 2009, while apartment transaction volume has grown more than 400 percent in that same timeframe.

“The market has come back pretty strongly,” Paul said. “What we’ve seen over the past year is that there has been some plateauing of volume.”
