In the latest edition of Fundamentally Speaking, Calvin Schnure, NAREIT’s senior vice president for research and economic analysis, said NAREIT’s T-Tracker series highlights a “solid, sustained” performance for the REIT industry in the third quarter.
NAREIT’s T-Tracker is a comprehensive measure of operating performance for the total listed REIT industry. It looks at funds from operations (FFO), net operating income (NOI) and total dividends paid and reports the data on a quarterly basis.
NAREIT announced the 10 winners of its annual Leader in the Light Awards, which honor NAREIT member companies that have demonstrated superior, portfolio-wide sustainability practices.
The awards were presented on Nov. 18 in Las Vegas at REITWorld 2015: NAREIT’s Annual Convention for All Things REIT to U.S. Equity REITs in seven property sectors: retail, residential, office, industrial, lodging/resorts, health care and diversified. Two winners were selected in the lodging/resorts and office sectors. A global award was also presented for non-U.S. companies.
NAREIT has honored Mary Hogan-Preusse, managing director and co-head of Americas real estate at APG Asset Management US Inc., and Federal Realty Investment Trust (NYSE: FRT) President and CEO Donald Wood for their contributions to the REIT industry. NAREIT presented the awards in Las Vegas on Nov. 17 during REITWorld 2015: NAREIT’s Annual Convention for All Things REIT.
NAREIT has announced the election of its 2016 officers, as well as the members of its Executive Board, Board of Governors, and Audit and Investment Committee.
NAREIT’s new Chair is Edward Fritsch, president and CEO of Highwoods Properties, Inc. (NYSE: HIW). Fritsch takes over from NAREIT’s 2015 Chair, David Neithercut, president and CEO of Equity Residential (NYSE: EQR).
NAREIT’s Total REIT Industry Tracker Series (NAREIT T-Tracker) results for the third quarter of 2015 point to a steady improvement in REIT operating performance.
U.S. listed Equity REITs produced total funds from operation (FFO) of $ 13.4 billion in the third quarter, 2.7 percent higher compared with the second quarter and a 13.1 percent increase from the third quarter of 2014.

FPL partners with NAREIT on the annual NAREIT Compensation Survey. This year’s survey contains record-setting responses from 135 REITs and real estate operating companies providing information on 132 positions. Participants in the survey represent approximately 75 percent of the equity market capitalization of listed Equity REITs.

The winners of NAREIT’s 2015 Investor CARE Awards, which honor excellence in communications and reporting to shareholders, were announced on June 9 in New York at REITWeek 2015: NAREIT’s Investor Forum.
In the large cap Equity REIT category, the Gold Award went to Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc. (NYSE:ARE). Boston Properties, Inc. (NYSE: BXP) received the Silver Award, while the Bronze Award went to Camden Property Trust (NYSE:CPT).
FTSE Group and NAREIT have launched the FTSE NAREIT PureProperty Index Series, which provides a daily measure of U.S. real estate price and total returns at the level of both property and equity investments.
The index series’ values are based on price appreciation and income distributions generated by portfolios of properties owned by stock exchange-listed U.S. Equity REITs.
Brad Case, NAREIT’s senior vice president for research and industry information, described the new series as “potentially a watershed in institutional investment in real estate.”
NAREIT is releasing a new report, the Total REIT Industry Tracker Series, or as T-Tracker. Calvin Schnure, NAREIT senior vice president for research and economic analysis, provided an overview of the new report.
Schnure explained that T-Tracker is a quarterly report containing a series of measures of operating performance of all U.S. listed REITs. The Tracker Series has three components: the Funds From Operations (FFO) tracker; the Net Operating Income (NOI) tracker; and the Dividend Tracker.
