Lexington Realty CEO Anticipates Higher-Yielding Investment Opportunities in 2017

Lexington primarily makes equity and debt investments in single-tenant, net lease commercial properties across the United States. The company recently sold four land parcels with 96-year ground leases in New York. Given the long-term nature of the leases, “that was the most bond-like holding in our portfolio,” Eglin said.

Student Housing REIT EdR Finds External Growth Opportunities

Churchey said external growth through on-campus development is “our most exciting opportunity.” Demand is coming from universities that are running low on funds and have aging housing stock that needs to be upgraded to recruit new students, he explained.

Austin Ranked as Top Market for Real Estate Opportunities in 2017

Austin, Texas, now offers the most attractive real estate investment and development opportunities of any major U.S. market, according to a survey of industry authorities.

Another Texas market, Dallas/Fort Worth, took second place in the Emerging Trends in Real Estate 2017 survey from PwC and the Urban Land Institute (ULI) released Oct. 26. Portland, Oregon ranked third in the survey of more than 1,800 real estate experts.

Real Estate Disrupters Will Create Opportunities, Analyst Says

Mar commented on the work Green Street has been conducting on real estate disrupters. She noted that many of the potential disrupters Green Street is studying, including e-commerce, driverless cars, ride-sharing platforms and Airbnb, are long term in nature. As a result, these disrupters are often not reflected in seven-year internal rate of return (IRR) models.

Net Lease REITs Upbeat About Expansion Opportunities

Net lease REITs see continued opportunities to expand their operations going forward in both foreign and domestic markets, according to executives speaking at REITWeek 2015: NAREIT’s Investor Forum.

Christopher Volk, president and CEO of STORE Capital Corp. (NYSE: STOR), said he expects acquisition volumes to be higher in the net lease sector in 2016. STORE Capital invested $ 1.1 billion in 2014.

“The (net lease) space itself is embryonic,” he said.
