Newly Listed REIT Global Net Lease Sees Untapped Opportunities in Europe

Global Net Lease, Inc. (NYSE: GNL), which began trading on the New York Stock Exchange June 2, plans to increase its exposure to European net lease assets by taking advantage of the current supply-and-demand imbalance in the region.

Formerly known as AR Capital Global Trust, Inc., Global Net Lease is a REIT focused on sale-leaseback properties in the United States and Europe. Its portfolio of more than 300 assets is located across five countries and includes 79 tenants and 35 industries.

EPR Properties Broadening Opportunities Under REIT’s New Leadership

Record box-office revenues, long waits at golf entertainment venues and growth in charter schools all point to higher earnings at EPR Properties (NYSE: EPR) this year, according to new president and CEO Greg Silvers.

Silvers succeeds David Brain, who co-founded the company and served as its president and CEO from 1999 until earlier this year. For his part, Silvers has held several positions since joining EPR in 1998, most recently as executive vice president and COO.

Iron Mountain CEO Sees Opportunities to Further Tap Domestic Storage Market

Bill Meaney, president and CEO of Iron Mountain (NYSE: IRM), joined REIT.com for a CEO Spotlight video interview at REITWorld 2014: NAREIT’s Annual Convention for All Things REIT at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis.

Iron Mountain, which is included in the S&P 500 Index, is a storage and information management company. The company converted to a REIT earlier this year. Meaney noted that Iron Mountain elected to become a REIT because it best suited the company’s capital allocation model and allowed it to effectively double its dividend.

Houston Ranked as Top Market for Real Estate Opportunities in 2015

Houston now offers the most attractive real estate investment and development opportunities of any major U.S. market, according to a survey from PwC and the Urban Land Institute (ULI).

Another Texas city, Austin, took second place in the 2015 survey of more than 1,000 real estate experts.  San Francisco, which was ranked first in 2013 and 2014, slipped to the third position. Meanwhile, New York fell out of the top 10 to 14  in the 2015 survey. The Big Apple trailed up-and-coming cities such as Charlotte, N.C., and Nashville, Tenn.

Sophia Banar, managing director with Forum Securities Limited, joined REIT.com for a video interview during REITWeek 2014: NAREIT’s Investor Forum, held in New York.

Banar covers U.S. real estate companies for Forum Securities. Additionally, she advises the firm’s global portfolio management team. Banar joined Forum Securities in April after serving as a portfolio manager with The Tuckerman Group, an affiliate of State Street Global Advisors that focused on real estate investment.

Gale Sees Greater Growth Opportunities in Development Over Acquisitions

Barden Gale, vice chairman with Mack Real Estate Group (MREG), joined REIT.com for a video interview during REITWeek 2014: NAREIT’s Investor Forum, held in New York.

Gale joined MREG in October. The company is primarily involved in developing multifamily residential rental projects in urban markets. Gale noted that the firm is catering to renters in the millennial generation and “empty nesters” whose children have moved out of the home.
