REIT Analyst Sees Interest Rates, Privatizations Remaining on Radar

David Toti, managing director and senior equity research analyst in the real estate group of BB&T Capital Markets, joined REIT.com for a video interview at REITWorld 2015: NAREIT’s Annual Convention for All Things REIT at the Wynn Las Vegas.

Toti was asked whether interest rates will continue to be a key topic of conversation for REITs in 2016.

“Absolutely. Interest rates will always be part of the conversation of an asset that is levered, particularly after a very long period of ultra-low rates because of global liquidity forces,” Toti responded.

COPT primarily focuses on U.S. government tenants in the defense and information technology sectors. Waesche commented that pricing remains very strong for office product in the firm’s core markets as a result of solid fundamentals and strength in the capital markets.

FelCor CEO Sees Progress on REIT’s Repositioning

Richard Smith, president and CEO of FelCor Lodging Trust Inc. (NYSE: FCH), joined REIT.com for a CEO Spotlight video interview during REITWeek 2015: NAREIT’s Investor Forum, held in New York.

FelCor is currently undertaking a multiyear repositioning initiative program. Smith said the company has made “tremendous progress” on the initiative.

“We had a ton of stuff to do,” Smith said. “Everything had to change.”
