REIT Management & Research is a private company that manages publicly traded REITs. Forester noted that the company has sought to improve the process of collecting and aggregating data across its asset base by investing in a new platform that allows for the collection of information “other than what is typically shown on an invoice.”

Senior Housing Properties Trust CEO Sees Broad Benefits from Demographic Trends

David Hegarty, president and COO of Senior Housing Properties Trust (NYSE: SNH), joined REIT.com for a CEO Spotlight video interview at REITWorld 2014: NAREIT’s Annual Convention for All Things REIT at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis.

Hegarty explained that, despite its name, almost 50 percent of the company’s assets consist of medical office buildings, with senior housing accounting for the remaining portion. The majority of the properties, which are spread across 39 states, are triple net-leased.

Decker rebuffed the suggestion that the U.S. REIT market is approaching the upper limit of its growth. The universe of REITs in the United States will continue to expand as more sectors are added, according to Decker. He pointed to sectors such as data centers and farmland as examples of how the REIT approach to real estate investment will continue to grow.
