UMH owns and operates a portfolio of 98 manufactured home communities in seven states throughout the Northeast. The company recorded a 31 percent increase in core funds from operations (FFO) in the first quarter of 2016. Landy reflected on the results.
Will Teichman, senior director of strategic operations at Kimco Realty Corp. (NYSE: KIM), joined REIT.com for a video interview at NAREIT’s 2016 Leader in the Light Working Forum at the Ritz Carlton – Coconut Grove in Miami.
Teichman gave an update on Kimco’s efforts to retrofit all of its upper-end shopping centers with LED lighting. The project started at the beginning of 2015, and to date, Kimco has retrofitted more than 100 properties, representing about a quarter of its total net asset value.

Daniele Horton, founder and principal of Verdani Partners and head of sustainability at Parkway Properties, Inc. (NYSE: PKY), joined REIT.com for a video interview at NAREIT’s 2015 Leader in the Light Working Forum in Reston, Va.
Parkway Properties owns and operates office properties located in higher-growth submarkets in the Sun Belt region of the United States. Horton discussed Parkway’s strong improvement in sustainability, as measured by the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) survey.
Michael Schall, president and CEO of Essex Property Trust (NYSE: ESS), joined REIT.com for a CEO Spotlight video interview at REITWorld 2014: NAREIT’s Annual Convention for All Things REIT at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis.
Earlier this year, Essex completed its purchase of another apartment REIT, BRE Properties. Schall talked about the status of the efforts to integrate the two companies.
“I would certainly say that acquiring a large company is a challenging process, but it’s going very well,” Schall noted.
Nils Kok, executive director of the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB), joined REIT.com for a video interview at NAREIT headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Kok commented on the recent release of the 2014 GRESB Survey results, which pointed to a strong improvement in the sustainability performance of the global real estate industry as a whole.
